68. Discipline trumps motivation
Sep 30, 2020
"I don't feel motivated to workout."
Most of the time, you're not going to.
The sooner you realize this the better.
Like brushing your teeth, grooming yourself, and going to work, exercise is a practice that is best adhered to through discipline, not motivation.
Once you've realized it's not about the selfies, records, or perfect movement patterns and more about the basic need to keep yourself as a responsible adult you've got it.
And make no mistake, being fat and out of shape is irresponsible.
We know too much and have it too easy compared to every person that's ever lived before us to squander our lease on life by carrying around too much body fat or refusing to exercise from a lack of motivation.
You owe it to everyone before you and those that will come after you to refuse being sedentary and eating too much food.
Discipline your eating and moving. Because motivation is fleeting and your body is too important to leave in the hands of your whimsical motive.
